· Project Basic Information
Architecture: Zaha Hadid Architects
Location: Chaoyangmen, Beijing, China
Project Type: Mixed-use commercial development
Construction Year: 2009-2012
Plot Area: 46,965 m2
Built Up: 330000 m2
Max Height: 67 m
Total Floors: 18
In the project two, the model will be
refined by applying python scripting and Graph mapper function. In this
project, the challenging part is minimizing, the surface area with the fixed
volume which is optimized.
· Project
Outline
The project outline of SoHo Galaxy is
described in this section. The modeling and analysisng processes can be
divided into 5 sections as follow:
-
Generating Model by using Python
Scripting for Grasshopper
-
Solar Analysis through Ladybug
( Sun Path Analysis, Radiation
Analysis and Wind Analysis)
-
Optimization through Galapagos
(Minimizing Surface Area with fixed
Volume)
o
Modeling the Buildings
To start, Python Scripting for Grasshopper is
used to create "For" loops and refined the base structure of the
model.
Then
the overall shape of the model is created by using Python Scripting and Graph
Mapper method in Grasshopper.
o Solar Analyzing through Ladybug
The Solar Analysis part are divided into three
subsections, which are Sun Path Analysis, Radiation Analysis and Wind
Analysis. We will run each analysis by clicking the toggle button. To do
Sun Path Analysis, EPW file for Beijing, China is downloaded from Energy Plus
website and imported to analysis.
Solar Path Analysis is calculated
based on Defined Hour and Month.
o
Radiation
Analysis
Radiation Analysis is done by
Importing EPW file and Sky Matrix Data.
Total
Radiation, Diffuse Radiation and Direct Radiation can be extracted from
radiation analysis.
o Wind Rose
Analysis
o Optimization
through Galapagos
In
this part, minimizing the surface area with considering fixed volume is optimized
by applying Galapagos tools. The Radius of Ellipse as imported and The Surface
Area to Fix Volume Ratio is determined as
Fitness for Galapagos Analysis
